Compassion Day Camp/VBS
This summer, North Scottsdale United Methodist Church (NSUMC) invites children to discover just how much they are capable of at Compassion Day Camp/VBS, held June 22–26, 2026. Designed to nurture the whole child, this weeklong experience blends creativity, faith, movement, and service—helping kids grow in confidence, connection, and compassion.
Families can choose the camp experience that best fits their schedule:
Morning Camp | 8:30–11:30 AM | $50
A vibrant morning filled with yoga, mindfulness activities, nature exploration, and creative play—each designed to build resilience, emotional awareness, and confidence.
Full-Day Camp | 8:30 AM–5:30 PM | $250
A full, enriching day that includes all morning activities plus science experiments, physical education, gardening, meditation, and hands-on mission projects.
FULL DAY CAMPERS MUST BRING A LUNCH DAILY.
Throughout the week, campers will engage in yoga, self-regulation practices, Godly Play storytelling, music, crafts, science, and gardening. Guided by dedicated volunteers, experienced educators, and a professional yoga instructor, children are supported in a safe, joyful environment where they can explore new interests and build meaningful friendships.
At the heart of Compassion Day Camp is a simple but powerful message: I Can.
“I can share my gifts. I can be brave. I can give my all. I can pray. I can hope.”
“These ‘I Can’ statements help children recognize their God-given strengths,” said Christopher Wurpts, lead pastor at North Scottsdale United Methodist Church. “They begin to see that they are capable of making a difference—in their own lives and in the lives of others.”
A meaningful highlight of the week is the Diaper Mission Project, where campers are invited to donate diapers or financial support for the Paiute Family Resource Center. This hands-on service opportunity teaches children that even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.
By the end of the week, campers will have explored science, movement, creativity, and service—while growing in confidence and compassion, and discovering that with faith and encouragement, they truly can.
